George Strait is a country music singer, songwriter, and actor. He has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Strait was born in Poteet, Texas, on May 18, 1952. He grew up working on his family's cattle ranch. He began singing in high school and then at college. In 1981, he made his debut as a singer with the album Strait Country. His first number one hit was "Fool Hearted Memory" in 1982.

Strait has been married to his wife, Norma, since 1972. The couple has two children. Strait is a devout Christian and has performed at several religious events.
